Terms and Conditions

  1. All work will be carried out to a high standard and to your reasonable satisfaction.
  2. The site will be left as clean and tidy as possible at the end of each day.
  3. A quote binds us to carrying out the work at a pre-agreed price. Quotes are charged for, as they involve a lot of work. There is normally a small contingency built into a quote, depending on the nature of the job. The breakdown is very detailed.
  4. An estimate is a rough guide to how much a job will cost based on my past experience. I do not charge for an estimate, nor do I build in a contingency. The breakdown is less detailed. Actual costs may vary.
  5. Any additional work requested after the estimate or quote has been agreed will be classed as an ‘extra’, and charged accordingly.
  6. If we are working to an estimate, we charge a fixed hourly rate for our time both on and off-site. On-site work consists of site management, dismantling, building, planting and consultation with the client. Off- site work can include shopping, phone calls, e mails, faxing and managing finances.
  7. We deduct half an hour for lunch each day. We also take two 10 minute breaks each day which are charged. Normally the contractor will be on site from8 or 8.30am every day. The day ends between 5 and 6pm.
  8. Please pay the site manager on a weekly basis, in arrears, on presentation of an invoice. We are a small business, and cash flow is key.
  9. When you commission Green Mantle to design and build your garden, you are agreeing to Francoise Elvin or her representative being site manager for the duration of the build phase, unless we agree otherwise by prior negotiation.
  10. Quotes and estimates are based on what the eye can see. If ground work reveals unforeseen problems below soil-level, extra costs may be incurred to rectify such problems.
