Garden design

First meeting

Once you've made initial contact with us, and been able to chat through your ideas on the phone, we organise a design consultation. This is an hour and a half meeting at your property, where we focus on your vision and requirements for your outdoor space. We will bring our design expertise to bear during this meeting so you can walk away inspired with new possibilities and excited at the unfolding potential your new garden holds. Please keep the garden accessible and allow us a moment (up to 30 minutes after the meeting) to take the necessary measurements to draw up the plans.

After the initial consultation (up to 48 hours) we write to you with with the CLIENT BRIEF which encapsulates all your requirements in summary form. We also quote for the design drawings at this stage.

This first part of the process costs £95, and is charged when we make the initial consultation visit.

NB :- site survey. You may have paid another professional for a site survey which would include boundaries, all existing elements and features in the garden, and level changes. In small spaces, it is often not necessary to carry out a survey... You may have title deeds to your property that show the boundaries and the footprint of the house. Or you may have architects' drawings that include the garden boundaries. Sometimes Google Earth can be used... Please note that site surveying and measuring may add another cost to the design process. The more information you can provide us with, the more we can keep costs down.

The design documents

Your garden project is created in the form of a 4-page file that constitutes 4 essential steps. You are free to choose the steps you need, one after the other. Each page completes and enriches the process, as the garden narrative unfolds. This formula allows you to adapt to your budget and your needs.

This service is a real asset for creating a garden that has character and that tells its own story because each element is integrated according to the concept defined in the first page. In addition this greatly facilitates its implementation by landscape companies.

Page 1. Presentation, Analysis and Concept

Up to 5 days after the CLIENT BRIEF we provide a plan of the existing garden and the first page of the project. All this in the form of a printed and bound A4 folder, presented to you face to face and explained orally by us. A PDF copy of the project and a DXF file of your existing garden is sent by mail after the meeting.

The first page contains the name of the project, a descriptive text of the concept, the analysis plan and the concept Mood Board. From this concept the garden acquires its own identity and has solid foundations. All major landscaping is defined and the idea can now be drawn.

This service is charged 205£ minimum for a private garden of reasonable size and complexity.

Page 2. Detailed Masterplan to scale

The second page is a plan of your project, drawn to scale and representing all the elements defined and validated in the analysis and concept page. This plan helps shape the concept and bring the project to life, without however concluding it since the plants, furniture and lights are not yet precisely defined. The page is presented to you face to face and explained orally by us, then added to the project file. A PDF copy is sent by mail after the meeting.

This service is charged 300£ minimum for a private garden of reasonable size and complexity.

Page 3. The Planting Scheme

The planting plan defines and enriches the project by integrating harmoniously with all other elements. Each plant is presented on a to-scale planting scheme based on the masterplan, which allows landscapers to implement the garden and guarantees you obtain the best result in accordance with the project design. Depending on the project, the planting normally includes specimen or focal point plants which are chosen for their architectural shape and may be spotlighted. Other planting types include screening, hedges, trees, shrubs, grasses and herbaceous perennials that are cut back in winter and return every year. We adapt the planting plan according to your maintenance needs and the overall look you wish to achieve in the garden. The page is presented to you face to face and explained orally by us, then added to the project file. A PDF copy is sent by mail after the meeting.

Page 4. Ambiance

This last page finalizes the project, bringing consistency, unity and signature style. The chosen materials and furniture are detailed, a night lighting plan shows the look and feel of the garden at night and includes lighting type and specification. A 3D artistice view represents the soul of the garden and rounds off your project file. The page is presented to you face to face and explained orally by us, then added to the project file. A PDF copy is sent by mail after the meeting.
