We can produce planting plans to suit an area of your garden that needs a face lift. Here we see a segment of the planting plan and some images of ‘Highgrove’, a garden outside Ashburton.
The owners had 2 beds on either side of their imposing property that had stood empty for years. They quite rightly wanted something special to off-set the main entrance to their home.
The idea was to create planting that would compliment the pale terracotta of the house – we settled on a colour scheme of oranges, lilacs, purples and rust with spashes of white, silver and pink to lighten the mood. The euphorbia ‘Silver Swan’ looks spectacular all year round, while the lavandula stoechas ‘Helmsdale’ is the only reliably hardy variety of french lavender that persists year on year. The sedum ‘Matrona’ look good well into the autumn and attract bees and butterflies…
I love the sultry dusky purple of the fleshy leaves against the dark pink long-lasting flowers. They wonderfully compliment the hibiscus and flower simultaneously. The carex comans grasses add a lovely rusty colour to the scheme and a textural counterpoint to the other plants. In spring the season is extended with peachy, scented hyacinths and tulips, and pale blue muscari (grape hyacinth).
At Highgrove we also plant annuals such as diascia, arctotis, californian poppy and nasturtium to weave between the herbaceous perennials and make an impact from spring onwards… Why not enquire about our planting service? Black and white plans for a small bed start from £80… We can not only design the planting scheme, but order the plants, carry out the planting, and even maintain the bed for years to come…
"Francoise produced a detailed garden design for us taking into account my request for a colourful display of flowers throughout the summer months with a complentary colour scheme flowering continually into autumn and incorporating some existing established plants.
I was delighted with the result – it is often better to dig up tired plants and make a new start and in this case it paid off with two fairly maintenance free beds."
